Easy Home Cleaning Remedies

Lemons

Lemons are our absolute preferred ingredient in our household cleaning solutions. There are a variety of ways to utilize lemons for everything, from cleaning up to getting rid of the stains.

  • Garbage disposal: Cut the lemons, then put all of the slices into the disposal. The lemon's juice will cleanse and disinfect the disposal, whereas the rind will release a pleasant fruit scent. It's not harmful to the garbage disposal and can eliminate any bacteria that cause odor.

  • Cleaning: The juice of a lemon can assist in brightening colors and whites. Include the juice of a lemon to each load alongside your regular detergent.

  • Counter tops: A mix of baking soda and lemon juice will wash your counter tops. Cut the lemon into two pieces and expose the other piece of lemon in baking soda. Rub the exposed portion on your counter tops. Baking soda is rough enough to remove any residue. The juice will disinfect and clean. Don't use this when cleaning precious stones as well as stainless steel. The baking soda can cause damage or discoloration of the surface. Be sure to do a test on a small area prior to applying the baking soda mixture to the entire counter.

Cooking Oils

Cooking oils are an excellent solution for home cleaning. Oils can be used to polish wood as well as stainless steel.

  • Furniture: Furniture made of wood will quickly turn dull if not maintained properly. A great home remedy for cleaning wood is two parts olive oil and one part lemon juice. Use a clean rag to rub the oil mixture over the wood gently. Be sure that you're not damaging the wood by examining a small area first. After applying the oil, it is necessary to get a new clean cloth and clean the oil residue off the wood. The furniture will look fresh and hydrated. It will also shine as new. It is also possible to use white distilled vinegar instead of lemon juice. Lemon juice helps to clean dirt out of furniture, and the oil helps clean it.

  • Stainless Steel: Stainless steel is cleaned by putting olive oil in a new, dry cloth and carefully wiping off the stainless steel. Be sure to follow the grain of the stainless steel and not make circular motions. The surface of stainless steel can be easily scratched, and therefore, you must be cautious while polishing the steel. Avoid using paper-based towels while cleaning stainless steel, like napkins or paper towels. The most effective thing to use to clean stainless steels is a clean and new microfiber cloth.

Vinegar

Vinegar is one of the things professional cleaners make use of for home-based cleaning solutions. It is a great way to clean bathrooms, floors, and drains.

  • Floors: Use vinegar to wash almost any kind of flooring. The acidity cleans and slows down the growth of mold as well as bacterial growth, keeping your floors cleaner longer. To clean floors, add 1/4 cup vinegar to a bucket with warm water. Make use of a clean, dry cloth and vinegar mixture to scrub floors clean. We do not recommend applying vinegar to hard wood flooring due to possible discoloration. For cleaning floors made of hard wood, it is best to make use of warm water. You can also clean floors made of hard wood with the proper hardwood cleaners. Be sure to dry any flooring you're cleaning to prevent water spots.
