Easy Green Bathroom Cleaning Tips

Many of our clients prefer cleaners that are green, and we fully know the reason. We prefer green cleaning products for your everyday cleaning as they tend to be gentler on your skin as well as your lung and do not have the harsh chemical smells of traditional cleaning products. However, in some cases, green cleaning products don't perform in the same way. Particularly in the bathroom, you'll want to be sure that you're doing a thorough cleansing task and getting rid of bacteria. We've put together this useful guide of our top green bathroom cleaning tips to ensure that you can keep your bathroom spotless healthy and green. The majority of these suggestions are achievable with a few home items, including baking soda, vinegar, and dish soap.

Green cleaning preventive maintenance for the shower drains and sinks

Maintenance cleaning is your most trusted friend all around; however, it is especially helpful when it involves the green cleaning of your bathroom. Every week, you can pour 1/2 cup of baking soda, followed by one cup of vinegar into the drain. It should sit for 20 minutes before flushing the drain by using hot (preferably near boiling) water.

The entire shower can be sprayed by soaking it in vinegar will aid in the removal of hard-to-remove staining, soap scum, and dirt.

  • Fiberglass: cleanse using an ingredient made from baking soda and dish soap, wiping it off using a sponge.

  • Porcelain: if you want to remove the stains on porcelain using only green products, try spraying the area with lemon juice, then sprinkle with alum powder. Apply the powder to the stain and allow to rest for at least a night. In the morning, take a few drops of lemon juice, then scrub any stain off.

  • Non-skid appliques and strips: Apply baking soda on damp appliques. Allow to sit for 15 minutes, then scrub and wash.

  • Showers made of marble or stone: Many homeowners prefer granite or natural stone for their bathrooms due to its appearance. Be sure to check with your manufacturer's suggestions for cleaning products prior to applying any product to your stone or marble shower. They can be scratched or stained by acidic or alkaline substances, even organic ones! Water can also be able to wear away and dissolve marble and other natural substances. We recommend using mild dish soap in the color of green on marble for cleaning the bathroom in a green way as it is mild with a pH of neutral.

  • A tip to consider: If you regularly take baths, adding two tablespoons of baking soda into your bath water can help to stop a ring of water from forming within the bathtub.

Green cleaning products for grout

Baking soda is the best choice once again to brighten the dull grout in your bathroom. Make a paste from dishwashing soap and baking soda, and rub it in the grout. All you have to do is wash it off. Our technicians love their scrub brushes to do intricate work such as grout and the drain rings.

A weekly process to clean the toilets

Half a cup vinegar in the toilet and let it sit for 30 minutes. Sprinkle baking soda on the toilet brush, and then wash the toilet.
