Easy and Affordable DIY Bathroom Makeover Ideas

There are some stunning bathroom transformations available. We could spend hours simply looking through the before and after images on Pinterest. Of course, the cost for a lot of these transformative projects is staggering; that's why you'll love finding easy DIY projects that can keep us going while we wait. We seek out projects that are inexpensive, practical, efficient, and yield results that we know you'll enjoy.

Here's a selection of among our personal favorites:

  • Towel rack constructed from an old ladder exactly as stated on its label. Find an old ladder made of wood, then sand it, repaint it or varnish it, set it against your bathroom wall, and voila! You are left with a vintage, fun towel rack.

  • Repurpose wooden drawers to store things. Wooden drawers that were made from dressers or filing cabinets can be reused easily by using glue to attach a piece of fabric with a pattern cut to match the side of the drawer and then used to store items (think toiletries and washcloths and all those oddities and stray items).

  • Make use of old glass jars to create bathroom organizers. This is more simple and easy for us (there are electrical tools involved). It is a great idea; however, it requires the use of non-mason containers (i.e., those that you're most likely to be able to find at any given time or empty pickle containers) for a stylish and practical item to organize your bathroom.

  • Coil rug. This is an easy task that will produce professional-looking results: a regular coil rug made of polypropylene rope. All you need to add to your rope are set scissors and duct tape. Start to make your rope an uncoil with duct tape, and then secure it. After you've coiled the length of the rope, place an additional layer of tape. Turn it over and marvel at the rug you've created!

  • Frame your mirror. The difference that this simple modification makes is quite astonishing and isn't too difficult to make.

  • Repaint your vanity and replace it with modern hardware and pulls. Why purchase a brand fresh vanity when you could change the look of your existing one for around 20 dollars?

  • Baskets for storage hanging. Simple and useful.

  • Wood art made from reclaimed materials (also includes instructions for towel rack). This is a different one that strays from what is considered the "easy" mark by a tiny bit. But we do love the design of certain of these pieces enough that we think that the effort is worth it.

  • Make your own shell candle. They're a bit off with the "functionality" criteria, but they're delightfully fun.

  • The hanging air plant. They're not very practical; however, for a unique and simple way to introduce green in bathrooms, this idea truly can't be beaten.

  • Cabinet organization for bathrooms. This one is a winner in all the boxes for us - it's simple, it's practical, it's inexpensive, and delivers satisfying outcomes (the magnet idea to hold bobby pins is a genius idea).

  • Storage in a rolling crate. This project may appear somewhat intimidating at first (the tool's power makes an appearance); however, the instructions are simple and easy to follow. And the final product is awe-inspiring.
